From: Nitro (Original Message) Sent: 9/17/2002 11:32 PM Well I'm off on Thursday on Safari to South Africa and Zimbabwe. BigFive has his 243 stoked up and my 375 is rocking and rolling. After much trials and tribulations and the third scope and second set of mounts I am finally happy. Went a complete circle. Started with a compact Leupold 1 1/2 to 6 x Leupold with thin post cross bars. But I had to have QD mounts. And the Compact Leupold did not fit on it with QD mounts. The compact eneded up on a 308 Lever action. Very nice fit. (they don't make these anymore because they didn't fit on many rifles) So I ordered a Extended Tube Leupold 1 1/2-6x Leupold and it turned up with thick post cross bars. A bit thick, but fine for a 375. Could I get it to shoot? NO. Endless trouble. And then the rifle wouldn't shoot more than 12 inches below the line of sight. Then 2 feet to the left. Off with the mounts. Golly gosh the action isn't in line with the barrel! Back on with the original mounts which can be adjusted for windage and the new extended tube Leupold. Still wouldn't shoot. Now I started to believe, did it everr? Yes my notes said so. So I put a Leupold 4x off a ,22, on it and buiild up some loads. Used it a bit. Hell it can shoot ABOVE the line. AND it is accurate too and can shoot a 1/3 inch groups! But I want a scope with less magnification than 4x and today back on went the compact Leupold. And it still shoots! A complete circle. iam back to where I started several years ago and plan to use this rifle truly in anger (except for ferals) for the first time. Bye. It had a custom reticle added to it by the distributor for me and it seems that there is a problem. Back to the factory for repairs (I hope) when I come back. Take lots of pics so we can see your trophys. I will love to hear all about your trip when you get back. If the scope goes back to Leupold, their factory service is second to none.
