I see many hunters going to Africa to hunt lions, ie male lions as trophies.

When I first hunted in Zimbabwe the PH said they preferred to hunt lionesses and I noticed they were cheaper on the trophy rates list too.

Also I note many or actually almost all lion hunters are coming home empty handed. At least those posting stories on the net.

Does anyone hunt lionesses as opposed to lions?

Why or why not?

Is it taboo?

Is the likelihood of success much higher than for males?
