Yeah, I had tried to remember when we were charged repeatedly by a herd of angry cow elephants, and were backing up across a very small clearing, whether I had my finger on the trigger? I know the rifle was at my shoulder, and pointed at the trees in front behind which the elephant were boiling around. I do remember backing up, and keeping a watch on where I was going as well, knowing a small bush was right behind me. Decided it was better to turn and walk around it, rather than trip over it. The bloody PH yelled "don't run", fuckwit of a PH! - I had no intention of that, as all I was doing was getting around the bush, where I again turned with the rifle up to face the elephant. The elephant charged several times, but never the final last few metres. Exciting stuff though. I have a video of that hunt, but have never viewed it, I doubt the camera was on me there, instead facing the front towards the elephant. I would GUESS I would have had a finger on the trigger though, as one can't shoot a charging elephant without pulling the trigger first. |
