Taos if you shot a coyote a while back with a 17 Rimfire it was probably the 17 HMR, a 22 mag rimfire necked down to 17. The cartridge I am using is the 17 Hornady Mach 2. It was only released in August. It is basically a .22 Stinger necked down to 17 cal. The bullet in both rounds is a 17 gr V-Max bullet and it is intended to rapidly expand and disintegrate. They are not coyote rounds in either form. If you look closely at the wasp target you can see signs of bullet disintegration. Beside the Wasp only one grey squirrel has had the opportunity to test the little M2. There was no head left, it was gone from the shoulders up. I intend to take a case of 17M2 ammo with me to Montana next spring. This to me seems like the perfect round for the Montana gophers! |
