I worked in and out of Mozambique for the better part of a year and asked this same question to several folks there. Our natural gas field discovery and development is in the strait between the mainland and the Island. What I got back from the folks was that Madagascar was mostly snakes and rodents but no big stuff and was in no way comparable to the continent. Others here may know different and will hopefully throw in.
