Here's another old post that I hope no one minds if I revive it. I'm still new and enjoying digging through all the old posts.

I've only killed two cape buffalo, both with my .470Nitro - hopefully my third will be next June.

Anyway, I always take two rifles with me to Africa. In the past I've taken my scoped .375 and my .505 Gibbs, but the truth is that barring some unforeseen issue, I can't ever see not wanting to hunt with the double, so it doesn't really matter which backup I take, because it probably won't get used anyway.
