During the months of July and early August I was fortunate enough to be able to return to my favourite Safari area for a couple weeks hunting Leopard, Sable and Buffalo along with a week of "ECO" Safari with my Father, Brother and family friend. Sadly I had no luck on the Leopard and sable partially due to a late wet season but I thoroughly enjoyed chasing buffalo and all the usual highlights of being on Safari. The flight into Mozambique was quite a drama with an unscheduled night and day in Maputo due to Air Mozambique "LAM" running out of Aviation fuel and then to top it of, loosing mine and a mates rifles for seven days. Just another case of "TIA". Anyway, I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoy yours; My Forth time to this area spent with mixture of with both work and pleasure; ![]() Main Camps dinning, Bar and swimming pool area; ![]() The company's Cessna for the flight in and out of the concession if you don't want to drive; ![]() Loaded Toyota's for a few nights camping away from main camp; ![]() Typical country on the way; ![]() Setting Camp: ![]() PH quarters (Yes there where Lion around and IN camp!); ![]() Beautiful along the Lugenda River. Similar looking to Manna Pools Nat Park; ![]() Chatting with PH Stu Taylor; ![]() New water Pan with Dad and Bro; ![]() Buffalo in the Niassa Jesse; ![]() Stu, Davie and Dad at the Luambezi/Lugenda confluence; ![]() Klaus and Brian enjoying the Sundown; ![]() Hanging a bait with Jean-Wayne; ![]() Showing Dad my favourite playground; ![]() ![]() Buffalo with PH Mike Taylor and using a Custom 458Win with Woodleigh 480grn FMJs; ![]() The Grin says enough; ![]() I found this Bushbuck deep in the Riverine. Taken with Blaser 9.3x62 and 286grn Woodleigh Hydro bullet; ![]() The area to the South that I was to hunt Leopard had quite a bit of farming with the overgrown fields full of the notorious "Buffalo Bean's"; ![]() Mate, Andrew with his Trophies taken with a loan rifle and PH Stu Taylor; ![]() ![]() Sadly, Andrews two Chapuis rifles (in Calibres 470, 9.3x74 and 20ga) did not arrive until his hunt was over. ![]() This is an unspoilt hunters paradise with further opportunity's to hunt an even more remote area across the river within the core of the Reserve. An opportunity available via the strict controlled community quota. This hunt will be a fantastic Safari Adventure in an area that has changed little since the days Jimmy Sutherland hunted this area. This "Core" area sees few Tourists and the hunting will be quite demanding due to the lack of roads and infrastructure with a basic tented camp.
