From: NitroExpressCom (Original Message) Sent: 4/27/2002 3:39 AM In South Africa a poacher has been caught carrying a tusk weighing a whopping 120 lbs !!! The man reportedly from Mozambique had been carrying the tusk on his bycicle through Kruger National Park which under the weight broke down. Trying to sell the ivory he was arrested. His story is that he found a large dead elephant and had taken the smaller of the two tusks, as he couldn't carry the heaviest one. This he hid. The tusk he had with him was weighed in at 120 lbs (72 kgs). What a tusk! And what a waste! If the elephant was poached it probably is a "known" elephant from in or near Kruger. And if a new elephant from the wild, there are rich hunters, one of whom has a standing order for a 100 lb elephant with a reward of $1 million. This is the tusk: ![]() Link: http://www.jww.de/artikelbeitrag/artikelbeitrag_15723.html |
