Tinker - "Always carry a good knife!" That and make damn sure the buf's been hit numerous times with a large caliber rifle - preferably in a vital area. That said, the client was waaaay over his head, scared stupid, couldn't shoot worth sour owl chit, pigheaded, and totally panicked. Maybe he should have started off on something a little less dangerous - like a Dik-dik. The .375 has accounted for a lot of animals, but here's a case where a larger caliber in a bad part of the animal's anatomy might have slowed it down a bit more. That said, the son was real brave. FWIW: My last buf fell to my .458 Lott. Worked as advertised. |
