Other than for long distance shooting on the Kalahari, a 9.3 x 62 would seem about perfect. It has plenty of punch for the big stuff like eland and giraffe, and offers end to end penetration on zebra, kudu, waterbuck, etc. Yet the recoil is in the 30-06 class, pressures are low, there is not a lot of muzzle blast and the rifles are not big and bulky.
