Crocodiles have killed 15 people and injured several others in Mubako village, Ngwedo parish in Buliisa sub-county, Masindi district, in the last one year.

The LC1 chairperson, Anthony Mwakali, said the crocodiles attacked people when they went to fetch water or bathe at the shores of Lake Albert.

He said the latest incident involved a man who lost a foot to the marauding crocodiles before he was rescued by residents.

Meeting the district vice-chairman, Solomon Kaahwa, on Tuesday, Mwakali named the dead as Michelle Mawa, Posen Ogen and Dogu.

Others are Sebi Onyai, Charles Oryek, Jawoko Jobbi, Longino Okethwengu, Oroma and Kiirya, among others.

The residents appealed to the Government to provide safe water sources so that they do not have to fetch water from the lake, which habours the crocodiles.

The Uganda Wildlife Authority reportedly plans to construct a water pump and an access road in the area.

Inns Of Uganda, a company that operates Nile Safari Camps in the area, has offered to build a primary school there.
