Zim Buffalo hunt of 7-12 to 7-23 Now with Pics

Day 5 of continious bumping the edges of the herds. Lions working em just as hard as we. We walking in the lions tracks they somtimes in ours, all of us trying to beat the ever shifting winds. Buffalo spooked by every little thing, real or imagined. Found our bull, 1 1/2 hour stalk on belly and knee's.. Somtimes crawling backwards as fast as we can as others of the herd walked in, fast as we can back in as they receded like the tide. Finaly The bull lumbers forward so close we can hear him breathing, completly unaware of our presence into the only shooting lane. Quick, no time for the sticks! use the PH's back for a brace as there is not enough time to stand! shoot from the kneeling position SMLACK of both the bullet strike and muzzle blast sound as one as the .375 H&H 300gr Swift does its work straight through the heart at a mere 12 yards. The battle scarred old Inyati with still healing scars on his face from battling with the lions, bolts for less than 25 yards and collapses, gives the heart rendering death bellow as he passes on to the ever lush pastures. We wait the agonizing 20 minutes as he passed from our veiw in the heavy brush. We walk what seemed a mile to him.. He's dead.. My wife Karen walks forward to claim, to look at and feel her first well deserved Cape buffalo.. Sharing this together along with our fantastic PH Johan Spies, was more rewarding than I can ever imagine.. And if you ask just right, with a twinkle in her eye's she will tell you about the fantastic 30" Water Buck she was able to collect from a 200 yard off the sticks shot with PH Phil Palmer and her 7X57 Mannlicher Schonauer carbine after a very, very tough stalk...
A Very proud.
