Re: Double Rifle Leopard hunt and Mauling

Saw this on another forum some time ago. The video clip was longer and good quality taken off the promotional DVD.
Like many of the charges from the big cats shown on video, the mistake of standing and shooting is made. The old time professionals all promoted kneeling to get at the same level as the incoming cat and in the case of the fast moving leopard, using a shotgun with buck shot. There are some other videos around that demonstrate this well.

It would be almost impossible to stand upright and try to get enough lead on your shot with an incoming fast cat. Of course snap shots are brought off to spectacular effect sometimes with these charges but in the case of the dangerous cats you can't afford the sometimes. Getting down and personal would take some courage but that's how Taylor, Hunter, Bell etc all survived without PH or any other backup.
