Paul - Right! let's go back to them golden days of no tent floor, no showers (5-gal bucket & mototo to pour it), bugs with attitudes, and snakes. My last safari (Johan Calitz) in 2008 had tents with floors, bathrooms, running salty water, large bugs living in my mattress, 3XL spider on the wall, and sheets that could substitute for Level III body armor. None of that sissy "lodge" stuff for me. I'm man enough to enjoy spider bites. Reason the old safaris didn't have tents with floors is the same reason my first safari communicated with base camp with a low wave radio sporting a 100-ft. antenna. sat phones well-built tents h&c running water bottled water safari trucks that don't break down Lufthansa 747 transportation .458 Lott with Leupold - under $1200 Hell yes, bring 'em on! You rough it and call me and let me know how it was. (ooops - you won't have a phone) Shimba Khan? Wonderful photos! |
