The article author must have skipped page 172. The 303 was Taylor's first rifle when he set out on his elephant hunting career.
Great artical.
John Taylor also mentions in "Pondoro" his first rifle he bought( in africa) was infact a .303. He also stated he got it because he couldn`t affort any other.
