Yes Alan certainly displayed some selfless bravery in trying to protect his client and i can only admire him for that gesture, but I can't help but reflect on those "good heart/lung shots" he speaks of. I would hope that I or at least my PH were capable of putting in a disabling head, neck or at least a 'bust the shoulder/s' shot when facing a charge or a buff in close. I thought that was the idea of a SP followed by the rest of the mag of solids in case of a dangerous situation arising.

You can't guarantee to achieve an anchoring shot on enraged animal the size of buffalo using the heart or lung shot at the best of times and if using solids for this type of shot the odds are diminished even further.

If Alan was not using solids for follow up why not?
