I love waterbuck since first seeing them in Kenya in 1988 on an island in Lake Navaisha where one could wonder among the wildlife the only dangerous beasties being hippos on the shores. Shot my first one in 2002 on the Shangaani River banks in the Gwayi Valley in Zimbabwe. First kill of the safari. Interesting the PH took the waterbuck back to the homestead for a shampoo bath and rub down to remove the grease from its hair. Said waterbuck is fine meat but can be tainted by the oily residue on its hide if handled incorrectly. |
