Re: Where to put your money , on self guided hunt in Africa ?

Someone once wrote something like this: "You have only half-lived your life if you never feel the icy clutch of danger for it's own sake". So go for it man, if it goes pear shaped, just do the best you can, and if it goes well, you will have had a brilliant hunt and a fantastic experience, one that many could only dream about. I reckon I'm one of the dreamers

Alex,

A couple of ideas I suggested to Sarg which I am willing to post on a public forum as I think it is a good one, and also something one will always carry when hunting.

My Grandfather used to drill a hole/tube into the butt of his shotguns, then roll up his licence and put it into the butt, then a plug to seal it in.

Couldn't something like this be done, even if a rifle has a recoil pad? Drill a hole into the pad, then the butt stock. A matching rubber plug for the recoil pad and viola! A place to put a roll of cash, or other rollable documents.

Alex, have you ever been asked to make such a compartment on your rifles? Other than cartridge traps which are often on European styled firearms. Which could also be used for the same purpose of course.

Another idea I had was to utilise a cartridges pouch and have a pocket sewn into the back of one to hold a passport or cash etc. Again it will always be on your belt when hunting.

When one puts one's mind to it, various things can be utilised and if in more than one location it is also a good idea.
