Mark A great trip. Your post brought back memories of my first safari which was on a property - now gone - right next to the Stanton's property, just over the fence. Maybe not the same place you hunted - in the West Nicholson area? But I think the bug will have bitten and the memories will get you coming back. The safari addiction will have bitten along with whatever else bit you over there! You lost an eland, but these things happen. I lost a hartebeest on my last plains game hunt in Namibia which was the first big game animal I had ever not recovered. Searched for it for some time but a lack of a blood trail meant we would be lucky to spot it again by chance though we kept an eye out for the rest of the safari. As the wife of the property owner said, "The Jackals have to eat too." Warthog, well trophy warthog are not as common as believed and I have always had trouble finding a really nice one. A good chance you might find one of these if you return for Cape Buffalo one day, as there does seem to be warthogs in numbers in the buffalo country usually. Nice cull impala too. Kudu and zebra, two of the top plains game animals, plus a much sought after sable. Well done! The Falls look like they have a fair amount of water coming over too. Never seen them in June. Great photo at the end too. I bet your wife also enjoyed the trip. Looks like great fun. Am very envious. Now to save up for your next safari for cape buffalo. A worthy ambition to aim for. |
