Quote: Respectfully Dan that is rubbish. While not relevant here, ricochets, deflected bullets, all sorts of scenarios can have someone being shot without the shooter being "negligent". Shooting an attacking beast when one is not able to see or be aware of the a person underneath the leopard in high grass could also be judged as not being negligent as well. Well see what the [s]Botswana[/s] Namibian authorities decide on, instead of pronouncements and judgements here. [s]Botswana is probably a fairer country than many in Africa too.[/s] edited: No idea about Namibian governance. For some reason thought it was Botswana. As for the comments that before shooting the shooter should be aware of the location of everyone else in the group, I doubt that is ever the case, especially when someone is being mauled. Of course the background should be checked before firing but knowing the location of four or five people is something different. As for what is fair compensation to the tracker for his injuries that is another matter, and I would hope he is adequately compensated for the mistake/wound. |
