Re: Brittany Boddington Leopard Incident

........In the statements we did state that it took 3 seconds and that she did not know that Punki was under the cat she never saw him trough the high grass so she did the right thing and what we as PH's told her to do. And she would have never shot if she knew he was there. This was a freak accident and it could happen to your insensitive ass aswell!!!
Nic Kruger PH on the hunt

Now you can possibly argue that the PH is protecting his client, but I suggest that you think carefully before you call someone who was there - and who has sufficient experience to understand what was going on - a liar.

The situation was that the leopard had charged the party, and was believed to be wounded. Both of these facts create a strong imperative to stop it as rapidly as is reasonably possible....

There is good reason to argue that the lass did the right thing in the light of the information available to her at the time . It is probable that the only thing that she did wrong was to miss low. All those who have never missed a shot please raise their right hands. No? I thought not.

Respectfully........... Peter

Also respectfully Peter,

nobody as far I can see has called anybody a liar. Some posters have pointed to what they see as incongruities in the police statements and the timeline.

The PH states "And she would have never shot if she knew he was there." And I am absolutely sure that is true, however,
I think what some here are trying to point out is that that is very different from. " She shouldn't have shot, unless, she knew he WASENT there"

Many here have been involved in organisations where a ND resulting in wounding would get a far less "sensitive" reception than this young lady is getting in cyberspace.

As I read it she was in thick bush with at least 4 other people. She was carrying a loaded firearm that she intended to discharge at an animal, either this one or another one.

She was not aware of the position of all of the members of the party, at least 2 of whom as I read the report were ahead of her potential arcs of fire.

In spite of being unaware of the position of 2 members of the party at least, she under pressure discharged her firearm, resulting in the wounding of a member of the party.

She got shit lucky and the handler will live.

Now I don't think any of that is "insensitive" and frankly I think people are to concerned with people "sensitivity".

What might be considered insensitive" on my part however, is my cast iron conviction that if I am ever hunting in this Lady's presence, She can go in front.
