Re: Brittany Boddington Leopard Incident

the "natural colors" seem to be what they request their clients to where..another item in this however is the fact they were chasing, so a more colorful clothing attire might have been in order.

First, Duggaboy, good points.

RIPP, what #1 refers to is hound hunting leopard. I should have specified. When in an among the hounds, the level of activity, flashing visual images, etc, can be fast and furious. Nobody is hunting sable, etc when they are hunting leopard with a pack of dogs along I bet, and if they are, orange ain't gonna make a bit of difference among the song of the dogs. An orange, yellow, red or blue vest can be pitched on the ground or stuffed in a pocket anyhow, as Jaeger says.

We do not have an orange law here, and rarely wear it. Sometimes we do tho, as the need arises. Specific drives make it seem obvious, and we use it then. Also on some public ground. I wear an orange fleece vest under my coat, and take my coat off when I am gutting an animal. Yeah, I'm at least that paranoid...

I have a fair amount of hound hunting experience over here {bear in WA and ID, some cougar in ID, some deer in Alabama}, hunted monkeys with hounds in Congo, and I've seen a couple African hunting videos of hound hunting over there and from that limited experience I don't think an orange vest would be a bad idea, especially as the terrain seems to be covered oft-times with thick brushy stuff. I was hoping maybe one of our PH's might weigh in on that. Predators do see differently than ungulates, but whether an orange vest would be a "red cape to a bull", I'm not sure. In fact, my son reminds me that we watched a leopard video where we commented on the milieu of people running around and how when they photod the shot we both thought "Where in the heck WAS everybody when the gun went off???" I'd forgotten that video but orange would have helped I think.

Agreed, for other hunting, field colors or even camo makes obvious sense.
