I think the comments here have been quite reasonable.

Looking at options means one can learn from others misfortunes.

One thing that would be interesting to know is how often do leopards turn and fight when being chased by hounds. I read it is quite common.

One thing that did stick out from the reports was the assumption the leopard was gone and the nonchalance of poking around where it had just vacated. But who knew it was waiting there with "murder in its heart". A tough angry leopard. But as I said before "Shit happens".

Agree..this site has been really good..at least up to when you posted this...I was speaking of some of the garbage on AR...and garbage, I am referring to both the posters and content of their post..

And yeah, shit does happen...as you were and others as well I am sure...why would you assume the leopard was long gone...have not been in Africa a ton..but quite a bit in the last decade--the few times I have hunted there I have come across one every hunt in daylight hours..I am always told that is quite unusual..but none the less, that has been my experience..once a male and female were mating..we heard them from about 100 plus yards..worked our way over to them..found their spore and determined what was going on...plus we found a condom laying in the sand.. --kidding....

Anyway, shortly after we bumped them again not very far away at all---

Last year--a young leopard ran across the road in front of us..we got him on film..he ran to his mother who sat there looking at us in the vehicle for well over 3 minutes...

Like you said---shit happens...and in this case--luckily, all should eventually turn back to normal..
