The Young Bloke and I went to the traditional Dawn service and then retired to the local Golf and Bowling club for a traditional (Lots of Traditions) RUM and Breakfast with the Ex-Diggers and local dignataries. The young bloke struggled to finish the rum but got there. He wore his Grandfathers medals from WWII and I wore my grandfathers medals from WWI as well as my own service decorations.
We did notice a marked thinning of the ranks among the diggers, but a lot of Gen Y turning up for the memorial service. Sometimes I think we sell the younger generations a bit too short.
