All charges I can remember were nose down, horns forward. Rod - could be the white faces charge nose up.

Thanks for the info!!

You have a ton of African experience and seem to be piling more and more on!

Daryl, I've been chased by a lot of cattle and cows especially as most probably have who have worked with them, especially at calving time {tagging, etc} but I am positively certain the one I shot was comitted, it having already chased the Sheriff's Deputy under his patrol car, and the rancher, too. He was on horseback but not armed.

The thing I remember was the face was straight out and unlike any other cows I have had chase me around. I was standing stupid-like in an open log yard at the cedar mill down the road from my ranch and had no place to go, so the gun was a good companion. Interestingly, when the rancher offered her to me my buddy said to just take his .38 from the under the seat of his pickup, walk up to where she was lying and shoot her in the back of the head, and for some reason I said no and got the .45-70. I have many times wondered what the rest of that day would have been like had I taken the .38.

Anyway, looking at those pix again makes me wish I had a few dozen buff skulls to shoot with various calibers, to see if a horn boss will turn or otherwise muck up a bullet.
