Ripp - I can attest to the 'bull in the pasture' being a no-trespass sign. I grew up in dairly land- everyone had Holsteins and we steer clear of the ones who had bulls - at least one fence clear. They are the orneriest going and will charge at the sight of a man. I've heard Airshires are worse, but havn't seen it. Every one we've had charge up to us ((one fence over) has stoppped at the little 3 strand barb-wire fence. Seems strange they'd stop - no real impediment to them. Territorial, perhaps. The farm I worked on, used 2 tractors to round their bull up, finally getting the squeeze on him and a snap ring's rope in his nose ring - then he'd be as gentle as any cow. All charges I can remember were nose down, horns forward. Rod - could be the white faces charge nose up. |
