Re: Place of shoot.

The more I look at Robertson's picture of the head, the more I think that it may be incorrect with the brain/skull orientation presented. I think with the assistance of the skull/brain pictures the brain may lie abit LOWER than depicted. Of course if the snout were angled down more then brain would become a higher shot above the eyeline.

Look at the Skull brain pictures, then Robertsons picture and the skull orientation.Folks,am I wrong here?

I agree with You, the brain is likely just behind the eyes when the head is set in the usual position.

I wish I didn't write about breaking a bone
Breaking a bone isn't the finality, it's marginal but can to retrieve a wounded animal. A crippled one would hide at closer distance that an animal with a locomotor impediment.

There are only 2 ways to stop a charging animal : either destroying his nervous system (brain or spine) or breaking his locomotor system. One leg isn't enough, 2 is safer. , as breaking the hip.......not that easy with a charging animal.

Do You imagine shooting at a leg of a charging animal. Just like the recommendation of shooting at an elbow of a charging elephant....
