I posted this over on AR and thought I would share it with you guys as well. While checking out various outfitter websites in RSA, I came across an offer to hunt a "black impala" and a "red wildebeest". the wildebeest it turns out is a melanistic form of the blue wildebeest. The are impressive to look at but nothing to get very excited about as far as hunting. The impala, I had originally thought to be the black faced impala. I think the angolan or black faced impala is an exquisite animal. It turns out this was not the case either. It is another melanistic form of a regular impala but all black. I am sure it is an impressive animal as well, but here is the rub. I sent an email to the landowner for some info. Here is a small quote from what I got back.

Regarding your questions on the Black Impala, there are only 300 available in Africa and only 3 have been hunted internationally and the numbers are now sufficient that trophies can be taken and the trophy fee is $10 000.
Any takers out there? I am sure it is a beautifull animal but it is still just an impala. Be the first on you block to get one! You are guaranteed a top score if and when SCI recognizes them.
