Sorry to hear of your lions' situation. Trying to eke out a living in the desert must be hard for them. On the other hand, as hunters many of us would be interested in the permits to take cattle-eating individuals. The best compromise I believe is to make sure the permit money is a significant amount and shared with the local people who have to put up with the lions' predations. In this way, the locals may come to value the lions as a wildlife resource, not just see them as pests that eat their livelihoods.
