tophet, I use 105gr Hornady A-Max bullets exclusively in my .243. (Now on its 5th barrel...) Yes, it is an extremely fragile bullet, but I use mine for culling (headshots) exclusively. In that capacity, it has worked well on a few thousand springbok, some blesbok, several oryx, and a few kudu and eland. I think for your appliaction, which I presume would be mostly body shots, the 100gr Partition, or any of the 85gr monometal bullets, will be hard to beat. My son shot his first zebra with the 100gr Partition, once again, not reccommended, but I argued that I was there with my 8x68, and where pretty sure that I would get a shot in if the shot looked to be off. (Even ON the shoulder would have been off, he shot it behind the shoulder, slightly high, but still effective.) Hope this helps. |
