I've done it both ways.

10 years ago, I borrowed money just to go on a 7 day plains game trip to Zimbabwe.

Then as I paid off my ex-wife, sold the business, things got better so my new wife and I have been able to go longer each year.

Now my wife askes,"How much money do we need"? I reply,"It's only how much you got that counts". The more she can save up, the longer we are gone.
