My .338 Winchester has a 6x42 on it. My .375 H&H has a 4x33 on it. And my .458 Winchester has a fixed 2.5x20 mm it. If and when the 2.5 Leupold gives up the ghost (again!), I will most likely replace it with a fixed 1 power Burris. This little scope is an optical engineering marvel. Eye relief is a non-critical 6-24 inches, and there is 160 or so inches of adjustment at 100 yards, thanks to its 1 power design. Fixed power scopes have a certain qualities that I find alluring. Simplicity, compactness, a minimum of contraptions to screw up, light weight, and an undeniable advantage in toughness over similar variable models. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, they are cheaper too. |
