Hi Pinotguy - I can't give a definitive answer as to whether its worth the cost, but here's my oppinion for what its worth. There are a few roan sub-species and you are correct that Burkina Faso and Benin, but also CAR, Cameroon, etc., offer excellent hunting for 'western roan' in unfenced hunting concessions. However roan also exist naturally in east and southern Africa as well. The roan offered in SA is undoubtedly a game farm animal that has turned aggressive. At the end of the day, its up to you if you want to hunt a fenced or unfenced area for your roan, but western africa is not your only option for the latter. Hope that helps a bit. |
