"Battle of Gwayi"

http://huntnetwork.net/modules/wfsection/html/Ahthe%20Battle%20of%20the%20Gwayi.pdf

I remember being told of this epic "leopard" follow-up battle back in 1994.

Regretted not writing down the story back then and with time bits were forgotten.

Was very nice to see this article which was pointed out to me recently.

A leopard battle where the leopard is very much on top. The article is very verbose, but eventually you get to the meaty bits.

A long story, but worth reading the entire bit. WOW!

Re: "Battle of Gwayi"

A bit verbose as you say but that cat is - was a sure and certain reminder why they are called dangerous game. These men were mostly experienced and he still got to them.

Would be good to see a debate on the thoughts of others on the PH keeping a few dogs for the follow-up of wounded cats. Legalities and ethics.

BTTT

Seeing the recent discussion of the German woman killed in Namibia whom "played" with the "tame" leopard.

Re: "Battle of Gwayi"

Killed a Buffalo on the Chatham ranch and never met a more gracious couple than Mr & Mrs Chatham. Was served tea and some of the best biltong I have ever eaten. Stayed at the HalfWay House. Went back later and built a blind and sat for a Lion that had killed a cow about to calve in the corral across the road from the house. The lion had opened the belly and eaten part of the calf and covered the remains. Built the blind up the hill and sat the night. No luck. Came back the next day and found the lion had circled around behind us and went on out to the forrest boundary where we couldn't follow. Several exciting days spent there.
