The Remington 30 IS a modified Enfield. The bolt handle on your rifle is a G&H modification, as the Model 30 shared the "dog leg" design with the Enfield. The early (1926-1930) Model 30 bolts had an additional gas port drilled just behind the extractor collar. The later (1930-1940) bolts had a Mauser type guide rib riveted to the bolt body and two gas ports behind the extractor collar. There were also more subtle changes to the cocking cams, allowing for a cock on opening feature for the later Model 30's. However, your rifle appears to have an after market trigger, which probably incorporates the cock on opening feature. Yours is evidently not the post 1930 Model 30, since that model featured an altered bolt stop, whereas the earlier Model 30 bolt stops were identical with that of the Enfield. |
