the 25-06 and 270win are the two most under--served calibers for available ammunition IMO (well, at least related to the number of rifles sold in those calibers)...

the 25-06 is a great great round, and to me, there isn't anything that I would shoot with a 270 that I wouldn't shoot with a 25-06. that said, you're likely better served with a 30-06 and a 22PPC or similar varminter... the 30 is the best all-around loading on the planet in my opinion, and will be ample medicine on any real "Game" animals you come accross...

there are only two classes of animals that the 25-06 and 270 are really better than the rest... pronghorn and sheep... unless you are hunting those, there are better choices.
