I would like to thank you all for your inputs and suggestions. After reading the above twelve replies, I have to renege on my original question. I don't think I could limit myself to five hunting rifles. So, here's what I came up with: 22RF- small game/pests 220 Swift- varmint hunting 257 Weatherby- antelope, etc. 7mm Rem. mag- elk. etc. 30-06- backup for all above 9.3X64- backup for two below (where legal) 375 H&H- neavy game 416 Taylor-DG IMHO, every shooter/hunter needs a good quality 22, 30-06 and 12 guage. Please understand, my initial question was serious. But, it is fun and interesting to ponder this question- probably as long as there are hunters and gun owners. It is also interesting how most of your suggestions were the old established cartridges.Your thoughts? |
