I think your pushing the string when you get 2700 out of a 8mm with a 200 gr. bullet...the bestI got was about 2500 with the Noslers and that was warm..but that is a good killer for about anything. I have shot some game with the 160 gr. GS HP and it sure is a killer on deer and elk...I have shot a buff or three with the 8x57 and a sack of military ball that went off about every third round, it was that or stay home with the wimmen! And I survived better than the buffalo. I also shot the 250 gr. Woodliegh a bit and it killed pretty good on Kudu in the bush, but left a bit to be desired in the velocity catagory..As I recall I only got about 1900 out of it... Anyway I sold my 8x57s as the 30-06 is a better round or that was my thinking...but if I adhere to that I would have to sell all my guns because the 30-06 will do it all anyway!! |
