JUST MY OPINION BUT YOU REALLY NEED TO WATCH WHAT BULLET YOU USE WHEN SHOOTING THE ULTRA-MAG CALIBERS. THE FIRST TIME I WENT TO AFRICA I WAS SHOOTING A H-S PRESICION 300 ULTRA-MAG --I HANDLOADED 180 GR. NOSLER ACCUBONDS WHICH ARE SUPPOSE TO HOLD UP SIMILAR TO A PARTITION--MY EXPERIENCE WITH THEM IS THAT THE 3400FPS I HAD THEM LOADED TOO, IT WAS TOO MUCH VELOCITY AND PENETRATION WAS NOT GOOD AT ALL ON THE BIGGER ANIMALS SUCH AS WATERBUCK OR KUDU--AND ON IMPALA IT WAS EXTREMELY VIOLENT -- THE NEXT TRIP OVER I USED A-FRAMES EXCLUSIVELY IN THE 300 ULTRA MAG ALONG WITH THE 416 REMINGTON CALIBER --AS MENTIONED IN THE OTHER COMMENTS ABOVE--AWESOME PERFORMACE WITH EVERY RECOVERED BULLET RETAINING 85 TO 90% OF ITS ORIGINAL WEIGHT. TO CONCLUDE, IN MY EXPERIENCE, AS GOOD AS THE PARTITION IS, IF YOU ARE GOING TO SHOOT THEM OUT OF A ULTRA MAG ON LARGER ANIMALS YOU SHOULD USE 200 GR. BULLETS AND/OR KEEP THEM LOADED TO 3200 OR LESS.
