I load 2 rounds of .458 in the magazine. One of those goes into the chamber if I feel it is needed. I've never had cause to use more than 1 round. I do have another 4 rounds on the ctg. carrier on the butt. If I'm packing a .375 or smaller, I carry a belt ctg. box with 8 to 12 rounds & load 3 in the gun. I don't hunt anything more dangerous than moose and black bear, but in grizzly country. That's here the 'need' come from for a chambered round, periodically. ; I did feel a bit undergunned once, carrying the Ruger #1 and hunting with my daughter with her little .260 Rem. We walked into a grizzly's living room, complete with smashed vegitation, fresh moose skeleton and 7 piles of crap. My .218Bee felt a bit undersized, but the bear was out shopping. We vacated the premises.
