Not my longest shot but one of my most memorable "lucky" shots. My buddy and I did a lot of jack hunting with varmint rifles in the winter months and we certainly got our share of runners, most off-hand, in the middle of a field something to lean on was scarce. Anyway we were standing together contemplating our next move when we spotted a jack running full tilt some distance away, running straight across. I shouldered my 6mm. and as I did so my partner said " you aren't really going to fire are you" and I said "of course I am". To make the story short I led and held high, pulled the trigger and nailed the jack in mid leap. My buddy said "if I wasn't standing here I would not believed it, that jack must have been suicidle" - distance 330 yards. --- John 303 |
