Gunnie I have an older model BLR in .308 Winchester. I am VERY happy with mine. John Howard sent me a cheque to buy it with after he bought my SKK in 7.62x39. I thought what a good deal, a more powerful actually useful round, faster in reloading, and accurate. Mine has the steel receiver and straight gripped butt stock. My BLR will shoot 1/2 to 1 MOA 3 shot groups. It is lightweight and carbine length. An ideal bush rifle. Easy to carry all day too. The .308 is ideal for deer and pigs. I can shoot it reasonably well very fast. At a target shoot once I shot at a deer target at 90 metres rapid fire and hit the chest every time. Someone came to ask who had the illegal semi-auto rifle (after the 'steal-back'). The trigger is OK, light enough not like some non-bolt actions, with only a small amount of creep. Shot a few pigs, a chital deer, some fallow and some other critters with mine. I don't really have any bad to say about it, except I want a couple more magazines. |
