Daryl: i agree that the 30 30 may be on the light side but at the distances i am considering using this rifle i think it will suffice ( with well placed shots ) the bush we hunt doesnt offer shots longer than say 50 or 60 yds unless we come across small ponds and you get lucky enough to sit on a beaver damn and freeze your ass off while on watch. I dont handload at all so I will only be using factory ammo. it would seem to me that my options are greater finding a 3030 load on the shelf than limiting myself to the Big Bore 375 ...which by the way I have seen used quite effectively while I was deer hunting in Nebraska a few years ago. yea,,, that RCMP comm gun has a cheap feel and look about it(and does have the MP burned in the stock) and now that i have passed on it, the guy called me back with a new price ... he has come down from $750.00 CDN to $525.00...I still dont want it. I have told a local dealer and a guy who is "hooked up" to keep an eye out for a pre 64 30-30 PERIOD. The dealer called me back and offered me a Marlin I passed on it.... I already have a 22 mag in a M94 knock off (a nicely made German production gun) now I want the real McCoy good luck with your re-chambering efforts DT |
