I'm not sure what the atraction is to high velocity. In the long run it ruins meat and the down range trajectory isn't all that different than, say, 2900 fps.

That being said I love the 270. It was the second rifle I ever owned, my Grandfather gave me an old 30-30, and the first one I ever bought with my own money. That was 40 years ago and I still have it and still use it.

It is my main Deer Rifle and was my Elk rifle until it failed one time on a Bull quartering away at 150 yards or so. I finally got the animal, 4 hours and 2 miles away. Since then I have used a 340 WB and a 9.3x74 R.

I use 130s for Deer and was using 150s for Elk. I tried the 100s on Sage Rats but why put up with the noise and recoil when a 223 or 22 will do just as well.
