375fetish , Mine belonged to my old man as well . It was the first "real" rifle (non air rifle) that I ever fired . The gun and I have lots of history together as I used it almost every day after school in my early teens .'51 model and still in very good shape although I have had a thin red Pachmayr pad fitted so that I could cut off a bit of damaged wood at the toe . Mine has a Leupold 6X AO compact which fits perfectly behind the rear sight . Here's an anecdote for those that prefer the model 2 . I talked my father into a deal where I swapped him a brand new - in - box model 2 for the model 1 about 15 years ago . He just wanted something for home security and wasn't using the model 1 anymore . I got the better end of the deal , an heirloom that I treasure and will pass to my own son . Might restock it in the original pattern with a bit of fancy walnut one day . It deserves it . |
