I think that as soon as you pop your first elk with a 7mm, you might wish you had chosen a 338 of some variety. The 300 with 200s would do a decent job, but, man...they can be big and tough critters.

I shot a Southgate FN action 7mm Weatherby for enough years to convince myself that a 30 or 338 is much better.
