I don't know why it would not work well. I have taken a lot of pigs with a .45 revolver and heavy cast bullets. Most at under 30 yds. It worked very well out to about 100 yds. The .44 from a rifle should do at least as well. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. I think I would stick to heavy bullets at as fast as they will safely go. I once used some 225 gr. hollowpoint bullets at about 1600 fps and tuned my revolver into a .45 swift. Nasty wounds but lots of cripples as I got zero penetration. I went back to 300 gr. cast bullets and no more problems.
