I have several pistols and one shotgun with reflex (red dot) sights. Most are 2 MOA and one is a 2.5MOA. A friend uses only 1 MOA refelx sights because he claims they larger dots cover too much of the animal. I find the 1 MOA is too small to rapidly pick up the sight. I tried a laser but find they are ok for indoor ranges but fail outside. Unlike in the movies, the dot gets lost. I doublt that I would be able to see the dot on a deer at 75 yards. Cost has been $00 and under and that is money well spent - the reflex sights allow me to see my sights and the target which I would not be able to do in somewhat dim light. One reflex (Holosun) has both red and green dots as well as circle (open and with a dot). I find the red dot fine but read that a green dot is better for hunting. One very experienced goose hunter I hunted with used a red dot on his goose gun and said hi really improced his shooting. Probably a red dot imprioves fast shooting at short range but really doesn't look good on nice double and single shot rifles. |
