While not exactly a dangerous game cartridge (unless you have a death wish), the 295 Rook is an interesting little hunting cartridge. The loads that I have seen (5 gr Unique pushing an 80 gr cast bullet) seem hot with velocity in the 1400+ fps range as opposed to the 1100fps. The bullets shoot high at 25 yds. I ran out of time (and ammo) yesterday and didn't try then at 50 yds so I don't know how high/low the bullets were hitting at that range. Does anyone shoot the .295 (.300) rook and if so, what loads do you find gives the best accuracy. BTW, the bullets I use are from Buffalo Arms. I thought about Neilsen air gyn slugs but those do not have a gree=ase grove and I would be concerned about leading the bore. |
