Gibbs505, First let me apologize for my tardy response. I haven't been watching the "Rifles" thread since spring, and just tonight saw your inquiry about my hunt. My bear hunt was a great experience. We were along the Stikine River just above Telegraph Creek. Our camp was at "Lava Beds," just below Day Ranch. I had two black bear tags and was lucky to fill both. My first bear was an average size black. The second was a really nice cinnamon. Both were taken with my J. Winkler .300 Mag. double rifle. Here's a look: I particularly enjoyed the hospitality of the people of northern B.C. I hunted with Dempsey Callison and his guide, Jimmy Peterson. Both are great hunters and most gracious. Jimmy also guides for Fletcher Day, and he is married to Fletcher's granddaughter. We were treated to a magnificant display of northern lights the night after I bagged the black. Having never before seen that occurrence, I was fascinated. B.C. is a great place. Best regards, Curl |
